About Truespeak Studio
Graphics improve every year. Stories last. We still read Homer and Aesop: the printing press and the cinema didn’t replace them; they gave them new ways to be told.
I’m Evgeny Maksakov, and I’m building Truespeak Studio on my own. I don’t come from the gaming industry, but I have vast experience in software engineering. I’ve played RPGs and complex board games all my life, and I’ve wanted to make games since I was a child, but for many reasons I never took that road. The idea came while I was waiting for a big RPG to come out of early access. A few years after I bought it, I got tired of waiting and kept thinking about how long great story-driven games take to make. Truespeak Studio is my answer to that.
It lets you design a game’s rules and story as a world of its own, without programming: the characters, the items, the quests, the conversations and the map that connects them. The rules are math of the kind a tabletop game runs on: numbers, dice and formulas, not code. You can step through a conversation, a quest or the whole chapter structure before any graphics exist. The design lives in readable files, ready for whichever engine or medium you take it to.
Truespeak Studio will be free for individual and hobby use. Commercial use will need a paid license, with terms still to come.
If it earns a place in your work, you can support its development. Supporters help pick what gets built next.
